namecheap review

Before, when I heard the name of Namecheap, I just ignored it because its name itself says that it is cheap and so I built up the wrong mentality that it’s below average, but when then one of my blogger friend informed me that Namecheap is really good and so I thought to give it a try.

• Intro to Namecheap

Namecheap is one of the independent companies (not owned by any big corporation like Bluehost and Hostgator) that are providing services worldwide. They are ICANN-accredited registrar of domains. Other than domains, they have a variety of hosting plans that you can get at very cheap rates. Their hosting is feature rich and they provide website builder, Email, awesome support along with 30-days money back guarantee.

I guess that much is enough, so let’s come to our Namecheap review back

Here is the complete Namecheap review that you can go through in order to make your choice. Today there are many web hosting providers and every hosting provider is working to provide the best hosting to their customers but, if you want everything from just one host, it’s not possible. The best hosting is the one that fulfills your project needs and the right fit the features your project demands.

• Namecheap for Domains

When it comes to domains, Namecheap provides a .com domain at just $0.88 per year for a new account. So, if you are working on a new project, you can go for a fresh registration and avail the benefit. When it comes to renewal the renewal price of the Namecheap domain is the cheapest too which is just $10.69/year for a .com domain.

• Features you get

DNS performance: – With DNS performance you get robust performance from your domain across the internet. This feature of Namecheap is in partnership with VeriSign. You get freeURL/domain forwarding too.

Flexible Control: – With the advanced control panel, you can easily and quickly manage the settings of your domain. You get name server registration and push feature included by default with every domain.

Solid Security: – Every domain when you purchase from Namecheap comes with WhoisGuard protection free for one year if you want you can get positiveSSL certificate valued at $1.99. You also get registrar lock along with grant modification and security notification via email.

• Shared Hosting Pricing – Biggest Pros

This is one of the best benefits that you get from Namecheap. Namecheap is the cheapest hosting provider till date.

But, cheap doesn’t mean that it would be low-level hosting or doesn’t provide you the basic features. We will have to see what best they are providing by going through their pricing format. Web hosting can be treated as the home for your website and every web hosting has caps to some or the other features.

So in order to find out, I dig their plans to the core

They have got four plans under shared hosting

Namecheap plan

Value $9.88/year: – This is the most basic plan and you get 20 GB of SSD disk space, unlimited bandwidth and you can host up to 3 websites. Renewal price after 1 year will be $38.88/year.

Professional $19.88/year: – This is the second plan that will give you 50 GB of SSD storage with unlimited bandwidth and you can host up to 10 websites. Renewal price is $78.88/year.

Ultimate $29.88/year: – This is the third plan in which you get unlimited SSD storage along with unlimited bandwidth. You can host up to 50 websites. Renewal price is $129.88/year.

Business SSD $19.88/month: – This is the fast hosting they have because they keep very less number of websites on this server. You get 20 GB of Pure SSD storage along with 5000 GB of bandwidth, and you are free to host as many websites you want.

As you can see that their hosting plans way cheaper than other hosting providers. Along with many additional features that will add performance to your website.

• What all things you get with Namecheap?

Now, let’s come to the feature that they are providing.

100% uptime: – When you host your website, uptime is one of the most important features, because if your website is down, you will lose a lot of business and on the other hand, you will face issues with ranking too. But with Namecheap, you get 100% uptime guarantee.

cPanel: – Its most common today and most of the hosting providers are providing cPanel along with hosting. Same is the case with Namecheap.

Security: – They use both online and offline firewalls in order to make their servers highly secure, which means your website is in safe hands.

Softaculous: – This is a new app that you will get from many hosting providers. It makes hosting easy and thus you will be able to manage your websites with ease using softaculous.

SSD Drives:- Each and every plan of Namecheap provides SSD hosting. If you are not aware of, let me inform you that SSD drives are 3X faster than normal drives.

• Performance – Biggest Cons

Now, this is the most important part of a hosting.

Since, here we are talking about shared hosting, we can’t say much about the server configuration. But still in order to find out what performance we are getting, I did some tests and the results are below.

Since, here we are talking about shared hosting, we can’t say much about the server configuration. But still in order to find out what performance we are getting, I did some tests and the results are below.

Loading speed of the website is most crucial nowadays. Some time back Google launched an update saying that performance is another important factor for website ranking. This is the reason why you need to work hard so that your website can perform well in term of loading speed.

When it comes to Namecheap, what I found is that the performance of the website is average. TTFB is the most important thing when you host your website. TTFB means Time to First Byte.

Namecheap performance

You must not have noticed, but the truth is that, whatever websites are ranking at the top have less than 100ms of TTFB. Yes, that’s right. You can check any website over webpagetest.org.

But, with Namecheap what I found is that the website is getting a TTFB of more than 400ms which is not good. Though the rest of the loading speed is good but TTFB is not that impressive.

The reason behind this is the capping over their servers.

But, overall if you want to host your small website, no one is better than Namecheap.

Conclusion: – If you are looking to launch your website and have a tight budget, you can go ahead with Namecheap for sure and as you start getting a good amount of traffic, you can switch your hosting to something better. People who are looking to host their company website can surely go for Namecheap.

  1. You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but
I find this matter to be actually something that I think I would never understand.

It seems too complex and very broad for me. I’m looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!

  2. I have been using Name cheap from a 1month. customer support was fabulous. They will do anything for us. Best for Beginners.
